Raising Awareness on Capital Punishment through Art

On October 10, 2023, the French Embassy hosted an opening night event, together with several other European Union member states. This evening featured the work of Yuri and other death row inmates, some of whose sentences have been overturned, and a discussion on the influence that art has had on their lives.

The French Embassy, alongside the European Union Delegation, Witness to Innocence, and Ensemble Contre la Peine de Mort, organized a public streetside exhibition featuring reproductions of artwork created by inmates on death row that was displayed outside participating European embassies (including Spain, Portugal, Italy, Austria, and the Netherlands).

He also had artwork exhibited inside, in collaboration with the Lithuanian Embassy.
